SOURCES: From the book Bornmann's Sketches of Early Germans of Quincy and Adams County, IL., it was known that Clemens settled in St. Joeph, MO. That would have been sometime after 1900 because he was still in Quincy, IL, on the 1900 census. His year of birth was calculated from his age on the Quincy census and it seemed likely that he had come from Gross Dohren because records had already been found indicating that his father and his brother George had been born there. Clement's baptismal record was subsequently found in the list of baptisms on Dr. Stefan Remme's website Zur Geschichte von Dohren im Emsland. Information for the wife and children was from the Quincy census.
