SOURCES:

Maria Anna's maiden name, husband's name and children's names and years of birth were found in Russell Gaj's WCdb. Her month and year of birth and year of emigration were noted on the 1900 census which allowed a possible ID for her on the passenger list of the ship Leontine. Birth/bapt records for members of that family had already been found in Soegel parish so that parish's records were checked again and a corresponding birth/bapt entry was found there for Anna Maria. Her parents' names as noted above were from that record. Information about children, marriage and death was from the WCdb.

SOURCES: Wilhelm's parents' names and his age (40) were on his marriage record in 1867 at Sts Peter and Paul parish. That information was lacking on the record of his marriage in 1857 at the same parish. Because it was known that there was a Sievers-Luepken couple in Soegel in the 1830s, that parish's records were checked and a baptismal entry found there for Wilhelm. Information about the child was taken from the 1860 census.

SILLIES

SILLIES, Gerhard
BORN: May 15, 1830, Dalum (parish in Gross Hesepe)
PARENTS: Johan Heinrich SILIES
Phenna Maria SCHEPERS
EMIGRATION: 1853
Osnabrueck emigration index - Gd Heinr SILLIES born May 13, 1830, Dalum, Hesepe, emigrated in 1853
MARRIED: Angela HANEKEN
marriage: Jul 13, 1858, St. Louis, MO
CHILDREN: John SILIES born ca 1864, MO

NOTES: 1880 MO census, St Louis
SILIES, Gerhard 50, Prussia, cooper
Angela 45, Prussia
John 16, Henry 11, Catherine 9, all born MO
SOURCES: Gerhard's parents names were not on his marriage record at Sts Peter and Paul parish which keeps this ID from being 100% certain but other information makes the ID seem extremely likely. There was an entry found in the Osnabrueck emigration index for someone with Gerhard's name born in 1830 in Dalum and a baptismal entry for that Gerhard Heinrich was found in Hesepe parish records (born 2 days later than indicated in the emigration index.) The parents' names listed above were taken from that record. A witness at Gerhard's wedding in 1858 was Johan Heinrich Sillies and someone by that same name also married in 1858 at Sts Peter and Paul parish. Johan Heinrich's parents' names were on his second marriage in 1868 at the same parish and established with certainty that he was a brother of Gerhard Heinrich Sillies born in 1830 in Dalum.  Gerhard Sillies was a witness at both of the marriages of Johan Heinrich.
