SOURCES: Johan Bernard's age (70) and his wife's name were on his death record at St Dominic parish. Their names and dates of birth were also known to family researcher Rev Kraus. That information corresponded to an entry for Johan Bernard and his family on the 1839 Geeste census. Meppen parish records were checked and a corresponding entry found there for Johan Bernard Anton. The same research supplied marriage information and the names and birth information for all the children.

According to her death record in Brussels, IL, she was born Oct 30, 1799, in Holte. A baptismal record was found on that exact date for Anna Adelheid daughter of Tobias Bloms and Maria Adelheid Focken.
According to the marriage record in 1828 in Holte, Anna Adelheid was born ca 1796, daughter of Herman Bloms and Helena Moeller. No exact match was found in the baptismal records for that Anna Adelheid. The Bloms-Moeller couple had a daughter named Maria Helena born in 1796 and a daughter named Maria Adelheid born in 1801.

His approximate year of birth was known from his age on the passenger list of the ship Ocean and from his death record which also stated he was born in Laehden, Holte. A brother's record was found in that parish in 1819 but Meinard's was not. Soegel parish records were then checked, because the name Pollman occurred there also, and a corresponding record was found in that parish for Meinard. Information about the children came from research done for the family.
