Her name, with correct age and place of origin, was also found on the passenger list of the ship Telemach, but a year earlier than the emigration index entry indicated.

It is not known if the Anna Maria who was travelling with him was a wife or sister.
SOURCES: Clemens' birthdate was known from his tombstone and was verified in the church records of Lengerich where the surname was known to occur. His parents' names were taken from that document. Walter Tenfelde, in his book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika, has a brief entry for Bernard Clemens Maue born in 1825 in Handrup which says he emigrated in 1846. With that date, an entry was found for him on the passenger list of the ship Rockall.

SOURCES: Clemens' parents names were on his marriage record at St. Vincent de Paul parish. He died in Germantown and his tombstone had the date of birth as Jun 16, 1816. There was a very brief entry in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika which gave only his year (also 1816) and place of birth (Hestrup/Handrup) and year of emigration (1840). The records for Lengerich were checked and Clemens' baptismal record was found which gave us his exact date of birth, 11 days later than the date on the tombstone. A corresponding entry was found for him on the passenger list of the ship Friedrich Jacob. The children's information is from the 1870 census.

Albert's approximate year of birth was known from his age (41) at death. His wife's name was known from an entry for the family in a Clinton County history. Others with the same surname who settled in Clinton County had come from Lengerich so that parish's records were checked first for a marriage record which noted Albert's parents' names and then for a corresponding birth/bapt entry which was found in the records of the same parish.

SOURCES: Anna Maria's parents' names were on her marriage record at the Old Cathedral. The marriage was also recorded at St Mary of Victories parish but that entry is very hard to read. Her approximate year of birth was known from her age (28) at death, recorded at St Joseph parish. Her surname was known to have occurred in Lengerich parish so that parish's records were checked and a corresponding entry found there for Maria Antonette. Her first child was baptized at the Old Cathedral and the other two at St Joseph parish.
