SOURCES: Benedict's date and place of birth were mentioned in a biographical sketch written about him. With that information an entry was identified as being his in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika even though the emigrant's name was given as Johan Bernhard. The date and place of birth were the same as in the sketch. Benedict's parents, as noted above, were taken from the Tenfelde entry as was the year of emigration. The sketch gave information about wife, marriage and 5 children. Two more children were listed in Russell Gaj's database which was also the source of the death information, without place of death noted.
