Soegel parish records were searched and a corresponding entry found there for Anna Maria with the same parents found for Elisabeth, except for the mother's first name.

SOURCES: Bernard's approximate year of birth was known from MO census records and his probable place of birth known because a birth/baptismal record for his brother had already been found in Varloh, Meppen. An entry for the JUNCK family on the 1839 Varlo census gave a more accurate year of birth for Herman Bernard. With that the Meppen parish records were checked and a corresponding baptismal entry was found for Johan Herman Bernhard. The parents' names given above were taken from that document. Johan Bernard's death was recorded by Father Helias in Taos, MO.

"Pierz' call [to settle in MN] was heard, and the families began to arrive at the sites of future settlements along the Sauk River... In March of that year [1855] a caravan of ox teams and German families left Coal County, Missouri, and by May they had arrived in Stearns County, Minnesota … In the caravan were four families and two brothers-in-law: Andrew Beumel and family, J. H. Wolken and family and brother-in-law, Joseph Junck (Young) and family and his brother-in-law, Heinrich Bock and family, and G. Herman Brunning."
SOURCES: Joseph's approximate year of birth was known from the 1850 MO census and his probable place of birth from an entry for him in the Osnabrueck emigration index. Meppen parish records were checked and a corresponding entry was found there for him. Jospeh's marriage was at St Francis Xavier parish and his children born in 1849 and 1852 were baptized there.
