SOURCES: Helena Maria's approximate year and probable place of birth were known from the passenger list of the ship Bluecher. The names and ages of her husband and children also on the passenger list allowed all members of the family to be identified in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika. Her entry in the book included marriage information and year of emigration. Helena Maria's death must have occured after arrival in America in 1853 and before her husband's will was written in 1854, because she is not mention as a beneficiary. Her death date is from the registry of deaths.
