SOURCES: Bernard's date and place of birth and his parents' names are listed in Sharon Inman's online WorldConnect database. This information was verified in the online parish records for Dohren on Dr. Stefan Remme's website which gave the birthdate (Feb 14) 10 days later than that found in the database. Bernard's date and place of death was from Sharon Inman's database. His date and place of marriage was from Russell Gaj's database which listed the parish as Sacred Heart. Information on the children was from both databases. The family was found on the Herzlake emigration list and from the year of emigration given on that source they were found on the passenger list of the ship New Orleans on microfilm.

Because there was a Brueggen family in Florissant who had come from Herzlake, that parish's records were checked anad a corresponding birth/baptism entry found there for Gerhard Heinrich. the parents' names above came from that record. The child born in 1870 was baptized at Sacred Heart parish and the other children's names were taken from the 1900 census. His death infromation was from his MO death certificate.

This document supplied his parent's names and his birth date which were then confirmed in the Holte records.
